Another great chapter.
Anyhow i think that Yamcha power is escalating maybe too much if the story is to remain compatible with the canon.
Talking of other matters i was very disappointed to find that in Rebirth of F (that is said to be canonic) Yamcha does not have the slightest part while Crilin, Tenshinhan and even Muten Roshi does appear and fight (even if it's just against Frezeer regular soldiers).
I cannot avoid to see ths choice as another understatement of Yamcha's worth....

Thanks for your comment.

I'm not sure what you mean by saying that Yamcha is becoming too strong. He hasn't surpassed Goku or Piccolo, neither is he stronger than a Super Saiyan. I noticed in the series that the humans would gain or surpass Goku's previous base form power from the previous saga, so that's the assumption I'm working from here.

Also, it's unfortunate that Yamcha does not make an appearance in the new movie, and yet, I can't help but think the new movie is a really bad idea. I guess if he doesn't show up, it doesn't contradict what I'm trying to accomplish here.

Thanks for your answer!
I agree with you on the basic statement that the humans (but maybe just Krillin, Yamcha and Tenshinhan since Jiaozi and Yajirobei quit fighting before the Android Saga) optimize the same trainings of Goku gaining better results the him.
The problem, as i see the matter (but is just my simple opinion), is in intriducing a foe that, by what Yamcha say himself, il stronger than a Super Namek like Piccolo and maybe even superior to enhanced SS like Vegeta and Gohan.
I've ever thought that the reason the humans were put aside in DBZ was the emersion of the "Zenkai Factor" typical of the Sayans and the appearance of superior beings like the Freezer family, the Androids and magic creatures like Majin Buu and the other demons/aliens controlled by Babidy; reasoning in this way i assumed that humans warriors had a maximum well below aliens like Freezer and this just for "genetic matters".
This is just my disappointed opinion as a humans fan (and, especially, as a Yamcha fan) but i love a more optimistic point of view, above all since is strongly motivated like yours (the sayan zenkai via dragon wish and a godly possession to provide the four schools students and Yamcha with a power up that may well be temporary and not intefere with tha canon of the last manga arc).
Keep up the good work!

P.S. i apologize if my english is not so good but i'm italian and i lack practice with it. :P

I understand your English just fine. Don't worry.

And the concerns you mentioned simply means you are paying attention, which is good! I have thought of all these potential problems and have a solution :) You will just have to wait and see!

How about publishing here the issues on Yamcha that were on the former site? they were good and it's fun discuss about power levels (till this kind of topic dont become one of the sadly famous holy wars on the net about who's the strongest human).

Funny you should ask that. I am currently working on a video about that same topic. it will be much better than those old articles.

Wow, i just found this and it is absolutely amazing! I've never seen anything else like it! I feel kinda lucky to not have had to wait through that hiatus.

Anyway I watched Dragon Ball for the first time a few years ago, and Yamcha is by far my favorite character. He was, and still is, a huge inspiration. This comic captures a lot of what's great about his character. I was apprehensive at first about all the original characters and plotlines, but it turned out extremely well; they're all great. It almost seems too good to be true.

My only criticism is that Tenshinhan hasn't made much of an appearance. He and Yamcha were closely related for a long time, and they had a unique relationship. I just hope he gets included more in your story.

I don't plan on showing Tenshinhan in this unfortunately. After the defeat of Cell, he specifically stated that it would likely be the last time he would ever see the rest of the Z fighters and then he just left. I guess he just wanted to go be a reclusive monk with Chaozu.

Thanks for responding, and yeah that makes sense. But he did show up again to fight Buu. So I guess he just wouldn't casually show up the way Krillin does.

Also, I wouldn't say Yamcha and Tenshinhan were close friends. The games, at times, show them to be somewhat on friendly terms, mostly because they have similar strength and are underused, but most of the series I noticed that Tenshinhan treated Yamcha with either a mild respect or blatant sarcasm. Tenshinhan was of course kinda a jerk at first and, even when he turned good, I don't think he ever progressed beyond stoic and proud.
Mik 25th Mar 2015, 7:02 PM edit delete reply
Not friends, more like rivals; they spent a lot of time training together under Roshi, Korin, Kami, and Kaio. Yeah, Tenshinhan was a bit psychotic at first, but even during their fight he directly acknowledged Yamcha's skill (I also interpreted that fight as a close match of skill, with Tenshinhan simply having better training and techniques. I mean, Roshi hadn't even taught him the Kamehameha. And in the manga, there's much less verbal jousting; Tenshinhan is never shown to be immune to Yamcha's attacks either). After that they quickly made peace and started training. In that regard, showing Tenshinhan motivated by Yamcha's power is a perfectly fine portrayal. I was just trying to give some of my thoughts because I really had nothing else to say in terms of critique.

That's a fair point of view. I also agree with your assessment about their first battle. Tenshinhan stated Yamcha was likely the strongest of the Turtle school competitors, which could be viewed as both a slight on the school but a compliment to his strength.

Personally I think that the power scaling in this is perfectly logical, given that Yamcha is mostly left to the viewers imagination anyway. And if you feel like changing the canon to fit your story, I'll approve because I never much liked the Buu arc anyway. Precisely because it shuffled out all the human fighters and Piccolo.
